Denim & Diamonds?
The information below is a copy of my first post and tells why I chose Denim & Diamonds as my blog title:
Welcome to my first official blog writing.
I am just learning by bits and pieces on how to get this thing up and running. So all the setups are still to be done, but I wanted to get started by letting you know why I chose the title I did for my blog.
I chose “Denim & Diamonds; Comfort & Value”, because it helps me think of God. You may be wondering how in the world does this title and tag line make you think of God? I am glad you asked.
In my mind denim is synonymous with comfort and diamonds are synonymous with value.
Lets talk about more about the Denim/Comfort part of things…
I grew up wearing jeans. I rarely wore any other type of pants in high school. I even find myself today, at the age of 53, preferring jeans to just about any other piece of clothing in my closet. So when I talk of comfort my mind immediately goes to how I feel when I pull on that favorite pair of jeans – relaxed, comfortable and content. To a much greater degree I know God wants me to be relaxed, comfortable and content with me. I have the height, the hair color, and skin color, God wants me to have. I have the personality, strengths, gifts, and talents God gave and allowed me to have. God made me with tendencies toward certain bents, desires, and dreams. God did not intend for me to be anyone else but me. There is not one person He’d rather me be, than the best me I can be. Psalm 139:14-16 (NIV) says:
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
- I can relax, because I don’t have to measure up to anyone but the person God is calling me to be.
- I can be comfortable with my own “skin” because God made me.
- I can be content because God does not make mistakes. He loves me dearly
Diamonds/Value…
Not only did God make me to be the best me I can be, but He also says I am valuable. So valuable that He sent His only Son to die in my place. So valuable that He knows the exact number of hairs on my head. So valuable that He thinks about me all the time, day and night, every day, 24/7. Psalm 139: 17-18 (NIV) says:
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.
- I am valuable no matter what anyone else says.
- I am valuable no matter where I have been. I am valuable no matter what I have done.
- I am valuable period, end of statement, because God says I am and God never lies.
God made each one of us without a pattern. God values each one of us individually. God loves each one of us individually. God wants each one of us to know and believe just how valuable we are in His sight. He also wants us to be comfortable in our own Designer’s”skin”.
