God’s Purpose for Me November 6, 2008

Not many folks read the posts I write. Not that I have written an abundance. Not that what I write is so profound. Not that my hope is to have a multitude of people “affirming” God’s call on my life.
I have a dear friend who has been gifted by God in writing. She is amazing! She is able to articulate what God is calling her to so very clearly. Her journey to healing, by the power of the Holy Spirit, is nothing short of miraculous. You can read Heather’s blog by clicking on this link: On the road….
I, on the other hand, am not a great writer. I have absolutely no problem with that fact. God has given me a different purpose, even though I can share through writings my on my blog. I may even write a book one day. But, whether or not I become a “great” writer is not important. My main goal is to live the life God has purposed for me.
I want to know God so intimately that His life is evident in every thing I do. Every breathing in and out moment of every day, I want to live in such a way that His light shines forth in this dark world. (Side note: I used to hate my given name “Cynthia” because it sounded so very snobby. That is until I found out it means “bearer of the light”. Now I just want to live up to my name.)
I know God has called me to women. Most of this calling is lived out one to one. Sometimes it’s through talks about life over coffee. Sometimes it’s in my neighbor’s hot tub praying. Sometimes it’s through laughter. Sometimes it’s through tears. But, most of what God has called me to involves being available, when a need arises, to His leading in relationships.
We may not be one of those who is called to be “known” by the multitudes. We are not all called to the same things. If we were some of us would be redundant. God is the one who gives us gifts and purpose. Even when God gives us the same types of gifts, He may choose to use them for different purposes and in different arenas of life.
There is no mistake when God gives gifts. The Bible says:
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
Spending time with God in His Word, through prayer, in fellowship with other believers and worshiping Him are some of the ways we can get to know God and His purposes better. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and to control your life by Holy Spirit living in you. Ask Him to reveal to you how He intends to use you for His purpose. Be ready, God has a purpose for you that involves using the gifts He has given you. THE PERFECT GIFTS HE HAS GIVEN YOU!
I know God has called me to love, encourage and minister to women. He brings them into my life daily. The joy that comes from allowing Him to work through me in these precious lives is hard to describe. There are times when I am moved to tears in the overwhelming joy healing in another brings. There are times when there are joyous whoops and shouts. And there is always DANCING IN THE STREETS (my own personal terminology for praising the Lord)!
Keep your dancing shoes handy. When you seek the Lord with all your heart, He will always give you reason to dance.
Dear Cindy,
Yesterday was sure a tears of joy day, wasn’t it? I am with you in seeking the Lord with all my heart.
And, can I say, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I am so blessed to have you as a friend, as a sister. God has done amazing things in you and through you. I have been blessed to see the progress and the joys you yourself have experienced. Thank you for letting me into your life and heart to know you better.. to better pray for you, to better minister to you the way you have ministered to me.
Oh God, please continue to pour out your blessings and healing upon Cindy. As she has decisions to make, please guide her and show her where you want her to go, and what you want her to do. Lord, she has such a desire, from you, to minister to women. Please show her what that might look like, give her dreams, authored by you, that can never come to pass unless you make it happen! Give her peace in the decisions she has to make, peace until she makes them, and after she makes them.
Lord I rejoice in the friendship you have given us. I rejoice in the love I have received from her, and the chance to reciprocate that love. I treasure the many times she has prayed for me, cried with me, rejoiced with me, and listened to me. Please help me to do the same for her. I treasure our times together, even if it is only a few minutes during the week, or a little bit on the phone together. God I am blessed by her in more ways that I could ever express. You know my heart, you know her heart, our gifts and passions, my dreams and her dreams. All I can ever ask is that you give us more of you.
And dear Jesus, show both of us, no matter what happens or where we go, or what goes on in our lives, that you are enough. Sink that deep into our hearts and souls, so that with each new situation, each new opportunity, each new disappointment or joy we can still say that you are more than enough for us.
Bless Cindy this day. Help her get all the work done that she needs to before this weekend. Enfold her in your arms of love, and help her be fully aware of how you are holding her this day, this weekend. Amen.
I love you sister.
Oh, and did I mention that I sent someone over to your post about God being enough? She was really struggling with that, and wrote about it in a comment to someone (she is someone I met through the blog study) about how she knew that God was enough in other things, but why didn’t she feel that with the situation she is in now…
So I re-read your post about God being enough, then left her a comment, along with a link to your blog to read that post. She later came back to me and said that she visited your site, and it was beautiful!
Love you!
Heather
